Spring Cleaning Mode

Yep, that’s what I’m in.  I always get this way around the time we have our neighborhood yard sale.  I love to clear things out of the house that aren’t used and are just taking up space.  It’s amazing to me how much extra space I have and how much better things look after I purge the house of unnecessary “stuff.”

Tonight, after the ballgame, I cleaned out the utility room.  I started on it earlier today while hubby put my new glider together on the back porch.  But it was such a mess that I didn’t get finished until tonight.  It looks sooooo much better.  Last Saturday I went through the kitchen cabinets and boxed up items for the yard sale.  We still had dish towels, dish cloths, pot holders, bath towels, and wash cloths with the tags on them from wedding showers, so I exchanged some of the old ones for the new ones.  I still need to go through the spare closet in my bedroom and the linen closet upstairs, but I’ve made lots of progress.

I’m excited because we have a contractor coming on Monday to look at the house and give us an estimate for an addition we’ve been wanting to do.  There are a few minor changes I’ve been wanting to make in the house (stripping wallpaper, painting, etc.), and if we do the addition, I hope to do these things at the same time.

I love that we get a fresh, new start every spring to clear our homes and our lives of all the clutter that has built up over the last year.  I love the new perspective I have on life each year when spring arrives.  God’s blessings are always everywhere, but I seem to be so much more keenly aware of them in the spring.  God bless you during this beautiful season of clearing out the clutter of the last year and gaining new perspectives!

  1. We passed a church sign last weekend that said:

“Spring is God’s way of saying…….just one more time!”

I had to tell that one to Little John too!!

  2. Good job on the cleaning. Can you come here and inspire me? ;)
